I love Tai Chi and I’ve been studying it for over a decade. It is my great pleasure to share this unique martial art with others.
We do things a little differently at the Tai Chi Association of Bellingham.
We are a traditional Tai Chi school. Traditional Tai Chi can differ from what is commonly taught today. While the forms we practice are important, they are not the dominant thing we focus on.
We view forms as cups. It is important that the cup is shaped right and has no holes, but the more important thing is what the cup is filled with. Our goal at this school is to pour our cups full of “Nei Gong,” which roughly translates to “Internal Skill” or “Internal Work.”
The Nei Gong we practice comes directly from my sifu, who is a lineage holder of Imperial Yang Family Tai Chi. It is the same curriculum that was taught by the Yang Family in their family compound, which is a little different from what was taught in public at the time. This is why we call our discipline Yang “Family” Tai Chi, rather than Yang “Style” Tai Chi.
Yang Family Nei Gong is a system of training that involves stretching, soft tissue conditioning, breathing, and cultivation of the three internal harmonies.
While Traditional Tai Chi is a martial art, and we do love push hands and friendly competition, the primary goal of the Tai Chi Association of Bellingham is to use the profound curriculum of the early Yangs to become healthier, happier, more wonderful people.
Opening my own Tai Chi studio has been a life long dream of mine. To celebrate, I'm offering free classes for all of October.

We practice Imperial Yang Family Tai Chi, a specific lineage of Tai Chi centered on the full curriculum of the first three generations of the Yang family: Yang Luchan, Yang Jianhou, and Yang Chengfu.
Our goal is to stay true to those foundational original teachings and practice the art as it was handed down.
